Or, someone who has fabulous communication skills, has experience managing software development, writes well, or is a QA wiz? We need your help to fill three new positions. CollectionSpace is looking to hire a Java Developer, a QA Lead and Software Development Coordinator, and a Community Support and Technical Services Specialist. Read the complete job descriptions here: http://collectionspace.org/get_involved/opportunities Background CollectionSpace is an open-source, web-based software application for the description, management, and dissemination of museum collections information. The CollectionSpace project team is made up of museum professionals, software engineers, and interaction designers. Our team is comprised of a dynamic group of professionals based at universities and museums in North America, the UK, and Europe. Our work is grounded in the community-source model that places emphasis on community needs first and in the open-source model of developing software that is distributed under the ECL2 license. We are looking for individuals who believe that working directly with end-users is critical to success, who like to problem solve and who are team players. We are changing the paradigm of what it means to manage collections and how museums and higher education institutions collaborate to use the web and 21st century technologies to their greatest advantage. CollectionSpace is directed and administered by Museum of the Moving Image. Project partners are the division of Information Services and Technology at the University of California, Berkeley and the Centre for Applied Research in Educational Technologies at the University of Cambridge. The Fluid Project at OCAD University designs and develops CollectionSpace's user interface. Funding for the project is provided by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Early implementers of the software include Museum of the Moving Image, the Phoebe A. Hearst Museum of Anthropology, the University and Jepson Herbaria, and the History of Art Visual Resources Collection, all at the University of California, Berkeley; Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, and the Statens Museums for Kunst (National Gallery, Denmark) in Copenhagen. To Apply Please submit cover letter and resume to collectionspace at movingimage.us . No faxes or phone calls please. The start date for this position is on or around January 30, 2012. Please forward this message to anyone you think would be a great addition to the CollectionSpace team! Angela Angela T.
