CollectionSpace is pleased to announce the release of CollectionSpace version 3.2. This is a public release that as undergone complete regression testing. Here's what's new: 1. Improved functionality • autocomplete - providing more information up-front when selecting terms from authority lists (for people and organizations) • the process to upload media assets • calculating current location • complex date handling 2. Improved performance • caching issues were addressed that affect page load times and search results display • user interface issues were addressed that affect pagination and navigation 3. Improved user interface design • consistent application of style guide throughout all forms, pages, widgets, and element groups 4. Improved handling of error messages • better messaging • more consistent messaging • better internal communications between user interface, application, and services layers 5. Bug fixes CollectionSpace is a collaborative effort driven by museum and higher education professionals. Our goals are two-fold: 1. Work together as a community to develop a well-designed, cost effective, high quality software application that museums and related heritage organizations can use to manage their collections and share information about those collections online and 2. Re-define the ways in which collections information is collected, managed, preserved, leveraged, and published. CollectionSpace is made possible by the visionary support of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. CollectionSpace is freely distributed via the ECL 2.0 license, and an active developer community works together to enhance and improve CollectionSpace with each new release. This effort is led by the Museum of the Moving Image, with partners University of California, Berkeley, Information Services and Technology and University of Cambridge, Center for Applied Research in Educational Technologies.
