Dear CollectionSpace Community,

What an exciting year we’ve just wrapped up! I’d like to take a moment to recognize some of our new implementers, great accomplishments, and things to look forward to in the New Year.

We had a big group starting implementations and going live in 2018, including the Columbia Gorge Veterans Museum, the Queens Museum, the Ohio History Connection, the Parsons School of Design, Canyon Cinema, McGill University, East Carolina University, the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh, and Dartmouth College. Don’t see yourself on this list but implemented CSpace? Send a note introducing yourself - we’d love to hear more about your project!

Our partners at the Western States Arts Federationhttps://www.westaf.org/ formally launched their hosting service for public arts organizations, and have a great group of implementers ready to get started. CollectionSpace will also serve as the updated back end for the Public Art Archivehttps://www.publicartarchive.org/. Getting WESTAF up and running was a great collaborative effort between their team and ours - kudos to all involved!

On the tech side, the release of Version 5 of the application this year was a huge accomplishment many months in the making. The complete re-write of our UI using the React.js JavaScript library will bear great fruit as we look to our 2019 technical roadmap.

We have some great things to look forward to in 2019, thanks in large part to the Andrew W. Mellon Foundationhttp://lyrasisnow.org/lyrasis-receives-grant-to-support-collectionspace/, which has provided us with significant grant funding to move the application forward. Priorities on our upcoming roadmap include long-awaited improvements to search and reporting, the beta release of our public collections browser, and some great new community contributions; for example, an integration of OpenSeadragonhttps://openseadragon.github.io/ for image pan and zoom courtesy of Ray Lee. Later this winter, we’ll be kicking off a great project with the Museum of the Moving Image to better support variable media, and to pilot a digital preservation platform integration.

On behalf of everyone at LYRASIS and the CollectionSpace program team, thank you to all who contributed to making this year such a success. We’re looking forward to the great things to come in 2019, and hope you are, too!

Best regards,
Megan

P.S. We're hiring for a junior developer! Interested or know someone who is? Apply online via the LYRASIS website: https://lyrasis.isolvedhire.com/jobs/.
