Inquiry on Generating Object List with Current and Previous Locations

Dear CollectionSpace community,

I am reaching out as the Collection Manager for the McGill University Visual Arts Collection, and we currently utilize CollectionSpace as our collection management software.

Our collection is unique in that it is dispersed across 90 buildings. When an artwork location is under scrutiny, we employ the "LRN" (Location Research Needed) as a specific location authority, therefore the current computed location appears as LRN. To facilitate location research, we are interested in generating a list of objects with their current computed location set to LRN, along with their respective previous locations.

Manually checking and exporting this information for each object would be labor-intensive. Therefore, I am reaching out to inquire if there is a functionality or method within CollectionSpace to efficiently export a list that includes both the current computed location as LRN and the corresponding previous location for these objects.

Your guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated. If this isn't a feature currently available, I would also appreciate any insights or alternatives you have to help to move forward with this process.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Best regards,

Jessica Régimbald BA MAC

Hi Jessica,

The search you describe is currently not possible in the CollectionSpace web application advanced search. It requires constructing SQL queries on the database.

Since you are in a Lyrasis-hosted CollectionSpace instance, please create a ticket about your needs in the Lyrasis support desk and we can get you the data you need under your support hours. I will send an email off-list with info on creating a new issue.

Best,
