CollectionSpace Community,

We are delighted to announce the first release of CollectionSpace 5.0. This release introduces a new underlying UI framework based on the open-source React.jshttps://reactjs.org/ JavaScript library. In addition to updating to a more modern look and feel, the updated UI will allow for faster, simpler development and customization of CollectionSpace's user interface.

To learn more about the release and see how you can contribute to our documentation efforts, visit the release page on the program wiki:

https://wiki.collectionspace.org/display/collectionspace/Release+5.0

Please note that at this time, only the CORE profile of CollectionSpace is included with the release. We will be rolling out upgrades to each profile in the coming weeks, and will send out requests for QA assistance and release alerts as they are available.

I would like to thank Ray Lee and Richard Millet for their tireless work over the last 18 months rebuilding the entire front end and adding substantial upgrades and improvements to the back end. I would also like to thank the Technical and Functional Working Groups for their assistance with planning and requirements gathering. Finally, a huge thanks to all those who participated in QA testing; this release would not have been possible without your help.

You can see the new release now via http://core.collectionspace.org:8180/cspace/core/login, and we’ll update each profile demo site as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Megan
