The fine arts library’s collection of design materials consists of over 7000 material samples from a wide range of academic disciplines. The collection samples range from construction materials like Indiana limestone and historically important materials such as Tyrian purple dyes, to new and innovative items like conductive paint and graphene aerogels. By joining Material Order and taking advantage of things like the specialized taxonomy vocabularies for these specific collections, the library is now able to make its collection searchable to a wider audience while expanding their access to a large and established network of material collections across the Consortia. This implementation includes approximately 4,000 art and artifacts, 1700 coins and 800 anthropology objects which assist in telling the story of the heritage and history of the American Catholic people. Catholic University is the first implementer to use our new assisted migration path which will allow them to migrate their own data using the CSV importer with consultation from the CollectionSpace Program Manager. Linda Colet, from the CSpace Outreach team, will be reaching out shortly with details on how to join us for this informative and engaging opportunity to ask questions and meet the program team. CollectionSpace and Archeology Collections Are you using CollectionSpace to catalog your archaeology collections? If so, we’d love to hear from you. In the upcoming months, we look forward to sharing the news about a few more archaeology collections that will be moving to CollectionSpace with hosting from Lyrasis. These institutions are currently in the contract negotiation stage. With a growing number of archaeology curators and NAGPRA (Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act) specialists using CollectionSpace, we will be looking for ways to connect this community of users. The good news is that CollectionSpace already includes support for the handling of archaeology collections and specifically NAGPRA-eligible collection data and claim processes. As more archaeology curators adopt CollectionSpace to assist them with the management of these collections, we would like to work with this group to identify improvements to make this experience even better. Technology Updates: v 7.2. is Nearly Done! We are excited to announce that CollectionSpace v 7.2 will be entering the QA (Quality Assurance) testing phase in June. This newest version of the platform will offer users the following updates and newly developed features: · A new chronology-based authority. This authority will include handling of historic events, time periods (i.e., eras and dynasties) and field collection events. · New built-in CSV reports to support workflows such as generating Deed of Gifts, Loan Agreements and more.
