CollectionSpace now features a new authority: Citation.  You can use
it, for instance, to cite the books, periodical and journal articles,
and other publications that refer to or depict the objects in your
collection.

We invite you to try out this new authority at:

http://qa.collectionspace.org

Please give us your feedback - comments, questions or wish list
requests - via the project Talk list, talk@lists.collectionspace.org

To try out the Citation Authority:

  • From the Create New page, you can create new Citation terms.
  • From any Cataloging page, you can enter an existing or new
Citation term in the "Reference" field, in the Reference Information
section near the bottom of the record.
  • From any Vocabulary Term record - Person, Organization, Storage
Location and more - you can enter an existing or new Citation term in
the "Source" field, in the second row of each Term's information.
  • From the Search box on any page, you can search for Citation
terms.  And from the Advanced Search page, you can build and carry out
    detailed searches for Citation terms.

The Citation Authority is a community contribution, contributed by
the Statens Museum for Kunst (SMK): National Gallery of Denmark.  It
is one of several contributions made within the last 12 months to
CollectionSpace by its museum partners.  The Museum of the Moving
Image has also offered two contributions, of a Condition Check
procedure and Work authority, that are proposed for incorporation into
future releases.  As well, a number of feature additions and bug fixes
have already been incorporated into CollectionSpace, resulting from
implementation work at three museums at the University of California,
Berkeley, and that work has also generated more than ten
currently-proposed contributions.

We expect the Citation Authority to be incorporated into
CollectionSpace's next release, currently identified as version 3.2.3.
(It is possible that, due to the magnitude of this and other changes,
this release may be renamed to version 3.3.)  For notes describing
improvements, bug fixes and other changes in each recent release,
please see:

P.S. From the Lifesci tenant on the QA host, you can try out one
additional demonstration use of the Citation Authority:

  • From a Taxon Term record, you can enter an existing or new
Citation term in the "Common Name -> Source" field.
